Paul Hsu is a growth focused investor and quantitative operator of early-stage technology businesses in consumer platforms, social mobile entertainment, digital casino gaming, virtual goods and blockchain technologies.  He has advised and directly worked with companies from formation through IPO, from high growth to re-engineering growth.

Paul is currently CEO and Founder of Decasonic, a venture operating company investing in and building the next generation consumer platforms and blockchain technologies.  Decasonic is partnering with technology innovators, passionate about delivering new solutions to consumers and executing those innovations with strategic excellence, data intensive growth execution and capital efficiency.

Previously, Paul held several executive roles at high growth technology companies in NYC.  From 2017 to 2018, he served as the Chief Operating Officer at Homepolish, a venture backed, technology enabled platform for premium interior design and renovation services.  Under his leadership, the Company had exceeded board plans and achieved record company results, by deploying an intensive data driven execution playbook, clarifying its premium brand strategy, organizing under a customer first approach, scaling a sales organization, and expanding the exclusive B2B platform strategy. Paul was also the Chief Operating Officer at Fancy, a social shopping marketplace where consumers discover and buy amazing goods curated by its fifteen million user base of trendsetters and influencers.  Fancy has raised over $120M from many key strategic investors including Kering, Carlos Slim, and American Express and is an innovative commerce partner to Google, Facebook, Twitter, Hermes, Huawei and Apple.  During his tenure at Fancy from 2015 to 2017, Fancy achieved record company results and profitability.

Prior to Fancy, Paul spent sixteen years in Silicon Valley working with a variety of technology growth companies.   Between 2009 and 2015, Paul held several business roles at Zynga, a leader in the social gaming market, focused on mobilizing resources to best accelerate product development and execution.  He managed the strategy function in the corporate development group, executed on the market expansion into Asia & Japan, and helped position the company’s growth and product roadmap plans in its initial public offering. In his role as a leader in Business Operations, Paul managed and coordinated various business and growth initiatives both across the product portfolio, but also specifically within particular product groups.  He also led the business function in Zynga’s Social Casino division, leading a growth focused effort that successfully entered into new product categories and platforms.

Before his tenure at Zynga, he spent nearly a decade in venture capital investing in and advising early stage companies, most recently at a $300M media, technology and communications venture fund, NeoCarta Ventures. Paul was a key member of the investing and management activities of the fund, which had several IPO and successful exits to large acquirers such as Microsoft, Boeing, Siemens, Cobalt Group, Tibco, Donovan Data Systems, and Computer Associates. Paul began his career in mergers and acquisitions in the technology and retailing sectors at Merrill Lynch.

Paul holds a BA from Yale University, where his studies concentrated on economics, math, statistics and international politics, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude. In his spare time, he is an avid biohacker, experimental French chef and active angel investor.
